It’s our planet, after all.
Our planet is an incredible place, but it needs our help to flourish.
We know that global climate change is a reality in this century, and not in a minimal way.
Climate change talk is everywhere. Without our planet, we are nothing.
As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day this year, it’s also an ideal time to raise awareness on climate change and how the earth deserves to be cared for.
It is not necessary to make drastic changes in our lives to help the earth and the environment; however, we can start little by little, which is much better than doing nothing.
Any help to save the earth has an important meaning as we help ourselves, the planet, and all the animals in their habitats.
Climate crisis
Science leaves no room for doubt. The climate crisis requires urgent and transformative action. Through the Paris Agreement, 197 countries around the world agreed to act on reducing global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius and to also ensure that societies and economies adapt to rising temperatures.
The sustainable development goals recognize the need to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Climate action
No country in the world has not experienced the dramatic effects of climate change. Greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise and are now 50% above the 1990 level. Also, global warming is causing permanent changes in the climate system, and the consequences may be irreversible if urgent action is not taken now. Climate action is based on taking the fair and necessary steps to control climate change.
Climate change
This is the great problem facing humanity today. Fossil fuels are present in all aspects of modern life, but their burning releases carbon dioxide, an invisible gas that warms the Earth by absorbing the infrared radiation and remains in the atmosphere for thousands of years.
The next few years are expected to be crucial for human history.
In the last decade, progress has been made in climate science, but there have also been several natural disasters related to climate change that have affected both humans and non-humans.
It is difficult to know where to start writing about climate change, as it affects virtually every aspect of human life on the planet and at every level. It affects security, food and water systems, energy and economic systems, and infrastructure. It affects the intensity and cost of natural disasters. It affects almost every ecosystem we study, whether terrestrial or marine. It affects mental health, the priorities of communities and cities, the future of our children. It affects politics, the openness of societies, the way we relate as nations and individuals, especially to those we do not consider part of our community.
Although it is true that for a long-time humans have turned a blind eye to this issue; however, now is a crucial time to raise awareness and help the planet.
Tips for caring for the earth.
- Use the car less
- Save electricity
- Save water: Keep the tap turned off as long as you don’t need the water and as long as you can reuse it. If you are going to water your plants, do it very early in the morning or the afternoon so that the water does not evaporate so quickly
- Reduce your waste: Preferably don’t use disposable items, or aluminum and plastic containers. Consume only what you need and extend the lifespan of things where applicable. Remember that products such as plastic bottles can take between 100 and 500 years to degrade completely
- Recycle: Reduce, reuse and recycle is the key to a better environment.
- Buy wisely
- Take advantage of solar energy
- Use eco-friendly products and detergents
- Take care of the forests by not starting fires, throwing garbage or mistreating trees. Remember that they provide us with the oxygen we need to live. Support sustainable forest management campaigns
At home you can take the following actions:
- Change your heating to solar-powered one
- Turn off unused lights and unplug electrical appliances
- Change bulb lights to energy-saving bulbs
- The refrigerator is the most energy-consuming appliance in your house. To keep its consumption to a minimum, keep it between 37°F (3°C) and 40°F (5°C) degrees, the freezer temperature should be at 0°F (-18°C); open it as little as possible and keep it away from heat sources (such as the oven)
- Be careful what you throw away in the streets and the drainage system
And finally, we will all get through this.

I have been working to make changes at home such as with light bulbs and energy usage. The most important thing I’m focusing on is teaching my son how to respect the environment and conserve.

Yes! I’ve started referring to it as “creation care” in an effort to get my fellow Christians (many who are grossly unconcerned) to understand that we are to be caretakers of the only home we have been given. I also wrote a piece today about how creation care is ultimately a pro-life stance because it is the most vulnerable to are initially impacted by a polluted planet.

Great suggestions! I know I could do better. We have been trying to recycle more, but right now it’s been tough since we want to avoid people (and we have to drop it off at the center). But maybe we will go this weekend and just be careful!

This is much needed! I’m hoping people learn more about our environment while isolating at home. It really matters! One of the reasons I’m vegan.
