How to Look Younger with Facial Exercises

If you’re seeking a facelift that doesn’t involve scalpels, injections, chemicals, or anesthesia, facial exercises may be the answer. Facial exercises tighten and tone saggy facial muscles in much the same way that a workout firms your body.

The results are subtler than plastic surgery, but they can still turn back the clock.

The cheeks, neck, jawline, forehead, eyelids, and mouth begin noticeably succumbing to gravity at around age 35. Muscles lose their firmness, skin slackens, and wrinkles become more pronounced. Anti-aging facial exercises combat these issues by building up the muscles so that the face looks fuller. As the muscles grow, they also pull the skin tighter, which diminishes wrinkles.

Facial exercises also boost circulation. This delivers more oxygen and nourishment to your facial cells, imparting a youthful glow. Improved circulation also whisks away toxins that can make you look older.

Like any workout, you have to put in the time to get results.

You should consistently exercise your face 20 to 30 minutes per day, six days a week. Of course, everyone’s face is different, but many people see results in at least three to four weeks. After 12 to 15 weeks, the changes may be more dramatic.

Both men and women may look as though they’ve shed five, ten, or even fifteen years by doing facial exercise.

Anti-aging facial exercise involves moving isolated areas of your face in specific ways, with fingertip pressure providing resistance.

Here are four exercises that you can try.

It helps to do them in front of a mirror, to make sure you have proper form.

Drooping Eyelids

  • Place two fingers under each eyebrow.
  • Gently push eyebrows upward for resistance.
  • Close eyelids firmly (but don’t wrinkle them) for five seconds.
  • Repeat 10 times.

Jowls

  • Roll your lips over your top and bottom teeth.
  • Slowly and firmly, push your jaw in a scooping motion, tilting your head back each time you scoop.
  • When you can’t tilt your head back any farther, stop and hold for 10 seconds.
  • Repeat 10 times.

 Turkey Neck

  • Make a closed-lip smile.
  • Hold the top of your neck firmly with both hands and slide them down until they’re resting on your collarbone.
  • Pulse your head upward 30 times.

Forehead Wrinkles

  • Place your index fingers tip-to-tip across the middle of your forehead.
  • Press and pull them down-ward until they’re over your eyebrows.
  • While still applying pressure, push your eyebrows up, hold for five seconds and release. Repeat ten times.

All of the muscles in your body respond to exercise, including the ones in your face.

You’re not simply stuck with the way you look as you grow older.

If these muscles are out of shape, facial exercise is a non-invasive, non-toxic alternative to plastic surgery.

And even better, it’s free.
